Mzansi Magic has revealed that DStv’s number one show, Gomora ends on October 20 with a shortened fourth and final season, Season 3 ends on April 21, and Season 4 starts the Monday after that, but it won’t air for a whole year.
The reason why?
Based on M-Net:
“The series reaches its conclusion in October 2023 as M-Net strives to keep abreast of changing consumer viewership preferences.”
And from Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net:
“We are committed to bringing the best content to our viewers and, as such, we have to be responsive to their changing needs and preferences. This means that we have to bid farewell to beloved shows like Gomora, but we are excited to bring you new, fresh and exciting content.”
Yes, TV fans, we assume they’re making reference to a combination of falling audience figures and the covert survey we informed you about here when Legacy was canceled.
Two of the series’ stars leaving the show might also be significant.
The original Mazet and Thathi, played by Siphesihle Ndaba and Katlego Danke, respectively, won’t appear in the final season.
Three days after lockdown, on March 30, 2020, the Seriti Films production had its debut. Executive Producer Leanne Khumalo of the program explains the circumstances as follows:
“Gomora has been an incredible journey, paved with many special milestones and memories. When we started this show, we were on the brink of lockdown. The crew and cast formed a special bond during this time. Gomora grew into a family and this power dynamic was shared and experienced on screen.”
Without Mazet and Thathi, whose exit in Season 4 will be a significant event, the dynamic will change fundamentally.
Gomora Ends- What to Expect :
Fans of the soap can anticipate exciting action and a rollercoaster of emotions in its fourth and final season.
The generational and self-inflicted misery that the young people of Gomora are experiencing are out of control.
Sonto’s (played by Connie Chiume) world is also being shaken at this time, and she is attempting to process her feelings in the wake of the murder.
The Molefe home is turned upside down during the season by the absence of Mazet (Siphesihle Ndaba) and Thathi (Katlego Danke), and Sonto transitions from one desperate act to even riskier one.
Sibongile (Nandipha Khubone), who survived the disaster, gives birth to their child at the Zondo home beside Scara (Wonder Ndlovu). Sibongile, who is doubtful of her ability to care for her child, takes a hasty choice with long-lasting effects.
However, as Zodwa (Sannah Mchunu) prepares for her and Bongani’s (Thulani Mtsweni) special day, the happy, long-awaited event might just be what the family needs to finally come together.
during the same time, Nkosinathi (Fezile Makhanya) keeps getting into bad financial situations during Zodwa and Bongani’s wedding, and one moment of weakness could make or break his relationship with Gladys (Thembi Seete).
