Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (28 January 1988 – 10 February 2023), known professionally as AKA was a rapper from South Africa. Forbes, who was born and raised in Cape Town, rose to fame after the release of the song “Victory Lap” from his debut studio album, Altar Ego (2010).
In order to build on his popularity, Forbes continues to release studio albums, such as Levels (2014), Touch My Blood (2018), Bhovamania (2020), and the joint album Be Careful What You Wish For with Anatii (2017), Forbes appeared as a special guest on WWE Live events in April 2018 that took place in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

AKA was born into the family of Mr. Tony Forbes and Mrs. Lynn Forbes on January 28, 1988. Kiernan, a millennial, was born in the city of Cape Town, South Africa, Forbes was fatally shot outside a Durban restaurant on February 10, 2023.
AKA Education
AKA went to Holy Cross Convent in Cape Town for his elementary schooling while he was living with his grandmother. But he didn’t finish his schooling there before going to Greenside Primary School.
He went to high school at St. John College, where he got an A+ and graduated with honors. But he didn’t go to college right after he graduated from high school, He worked on music for a while before going to college to study Sound Engineering.
AKA Career
AKA co-founded The IV Collective with two other members while still enrolled in college. Creating music for other artists was the group’s main focus. Khuli Chana, ProKid, and JR are a few well-known names they collaborated with before breaking up.
Once tracks like Errors, In My Walk, and I Do were released, Forbes started moving up the South African music industry’s food chain. But after producing and releasing Alter Ego, his debut album, in 2011, he finally struck it big. The top songs on the album and on the national music charts were I Want It All, All I Know, and Victory Lap.
His status as a major celebrity in the eyes of music lovers increased, and he started getting requests to work with other musicians and play at prestigious events all over the country. Forbes’s winning streak began with his debut album, which helped him garner nominations for and victories at various music awards. Alter Ego was also awarded gold status by RISA as a result of the thousands of units that were sold across the nation.
He released further singles throughout the course of the next two years while also finishing his sophomore album. On June 30, 2014, the project Levels was made public. Kontrol, Jealousy, Congratulate, and Run Jozi are among the album’s notable singles. In June 2018, the public was able to purchase his third album, Touch My Blood. RISA awarded the album a Platinum certification before designating it Double Platinum, indicating its commercial success.
The Bhovamania EP, with four tracks, was released by AKA on November 6, 2020. Energy, Cross My Heart, Python, and Monuments are the singles that make up the album.

The rapper flew from Johannesburg to Durban, South Africa, on February 10 for his birthday party at Yugo Nightclub.
Forbes asked fans to come to the show on his social media page. He went to a fish restaurant on Florida Road with some friends including Tebello Motsoane Tibs before he was killed.
