James Cook didn’t hold back when asked about Josh Allen not being named to the Associated Press All-Pro First Team.
While he didn’t say much, his one word answer was enough.
Allen has had an incredible season, and was one of the frontrunners in the MVP race.
However, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was right there next to him. And in the end, it appears that Jackson won, being named to the First Team.
But it’s clear that Cook along with the rest of Bills Mafia have a clear opinion: Allen should have won.
Context matters, or at least that’s what last year’s MVP voters said when they gave it to Lamar Jackson instead of Allen, when Allen had the far better statistical season. This year, Jackson has Allen slightly beat in counting stats, even though Allen had less total turnovers. What Allen has done without Stefon Diggs, beating both of the No. 1 seeds this season, should unanimously make him the best player in the NFL, let alone at the QB position,” he wrote.
Allen has had a career season. He became the first player in NFL history to score 40+ touchdowns in five straight seasons. And in his standout performance against the Jets, he had a three-touchdown day which brought his total to a team-record 61 touchdowns and 501 points in a season.
Cook knows that this was supposed to be Allen’s year and the quarterback’s performance backed that up. So, the Bills running back had to make sure everyone knew what he thought about the voting.
