Duma Ndlovu(born 12 October 1954) is a South African playwright, poet, film director, producer and journalist. He is well-known in South African television, where he has created award-winning programs such as Muvhango and Imbewu, The Seed.

Duma Ndlovu has Zulu descent. He was born in Soweto in Gauteng, but his ancestral home is Bergville in KwaZulu-Natal. He attended Sekano Ntoane high school in Senaoane.
He began writing for The World after completing high school. He founded the Medupe Writers Association to encourage young blacks to become writers.
Ndlovu, along with many other members of the Medupe Writers Association, were banned from South Africa by the Apartheid Government. To avoid persecution by this government, Ndlovu fled to the United States. He was able study in the United States and finish his master’s at Hunter College, New York.

Duma ndlovu has two children with Nomhle ndlovu: Mxolisi ndlovu a son and Nokuthula ndlovu a daughter. Ndlovu has a reserved personality and rarely talks about his private life.
