Petrol Price South Africa: The fuel price outlook for May 2024 brings a mixture of news, as revealed by the most recent fuel price data.
For those who rely on petrol in South Africa, there will be some increases in store. ULP 95 is expected to rise by approximately 32 cents per liter, while ULP 93 is set to see a hike of around 30 cents per liter. On the diesel front, a decrease of 25 cents per liter is projected for 0.05% sulphur diesel, and 0.005% sulphur diesel is expected to drop by 30 cents per liter.
The main reason behind the anticipated petrol price increase is the higher international petroleum product prices experienced in April 2024.
However, the firmer Rand currency offers some relief by offsetting some of the impact. Currently, the exchange rate between the Rand and the US Dollar stands at R19.02. It’s worth noting that with around two weeks remaining in April, the situation may change. Therefore, this forecast should be seen as an indication rather than an absolute certainty.
