Rory McIlroy is confidently launching his 2025 season overseas on the DP World Tour, starting with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic—a tournament where he holds the record for the most victories, having won it four times, including last year.
Although he’s had a challenging start, McIlroy finished his second round on Friday just above the cut line. He opened with a solid 70, followed by a 1-under 71, putting him at 3-under and nine shots behind the leader, Ewen Ferguson.
Despite the hurdles, McIlroy remains optimistic.
“I’m ready to get out there early tomorrow, post a strong score, and move up the leaderboard to give myself a real shot for Sunday,” he said.
