Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods were brought in as partners for the creation of TMRW Golf League, or TGL, and they teamed up with TMRW Sports to create the league. It is essentially a league of pro golfers that play extremely challenging golf holes from all over the world in a state-of-the-art simulator, while incorporating a versatile putting green.

McIlroy said that his intention was to create something that was entertaining to fans and could help bring the game of golf into the new age.

Woods’ much-anticipated debut Tuesday night brought plenty of hype — but also showed there’s still some tweaking to do for the new league.

The sport’s GOAT walked out to “Eye of the Tiger.” Vibes reached a peak when Woods took the tee box for the first time and dropped the hammer to start the night.

The move didn’t work out in his team’s favor, however, and that ended up setting the tone early. The Jupiter Links Golf Club dealt with so many penalties that the team eliminated itself from many holes.

The highlight of the night for the team was Woods making a nine-foot putt, and then Kevin Kisner drilling a shot out of the bunker but somehow managing to hit the pin. One of the perks of this league is that we are supposed to see the golfer’s personalities more. Have you ever seen Woods laugh so hard he cried? Now you have.

L.A. Golf Club didn’t play a perfect round, but the team came really close. Justin Rose was solid out of the tee box, and Collin Morikawa hit the irons he is known for.

Sahith Theegala ended up being the biggest surprise. He had a shot that went out of bounds here or there, but he absolutely crushed it making long putts and having some unreal approaches. It’s hard to determine a team MVP from the first match, but Theegala has to be in the running.
