Chi Mhende, whose full name as Chiedza Mhende was born on 19 October 1991 in Zimbabwe, is a South African actress and singer best known for her role of Wandile in the SABC1 soapie Generations The Legacy.

Chi Mhende played Mmabatho in plays such as K. Sello Duiker’s The Quiet Violence of Dreams.
She has also appeared in a number of theatrical productions including Volpone and Aladdin. Other plays include Private Lives, Armageddon (a Roy Sargeant work), Romeo & Juliet. The Taming of the Shrew is another Roy Sargeant piece, performed at the Maynardville Open Air Theatre, Cape Town.
She has also appeared in Lara Bye’s productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard III.
Chi has guest starred on many television shows, including the SABC1 comedy Stokvel, Sky 1’s black comedy Mad Dogs and the Showtime drama Homeland. She also appeared in the CBeebies kids’ adventure series Jamillah and Aladdin and Syfy’s post-apocalyptic supernatural series Dominion.
She has also narrated children’s nature documentaries Siyaya : Come Wild with Us and Al Jazeera’s health series Lifelines. The miniseries Bridging Waters is a documentary that explores the lives those who live on Southern Africa’s river banks.
Chi Mhende starred in the comedy-drama Love the One You Love (2014, directed by Jenna Cato Bass). The film, set in Cape Town and featuring a sex line operator, a dog-trainer, and a technician, revolves around three characters who begin to question whether strange conspiracies may be at play in their romantic relationships. She won the Best Actress award at the 2014 Durban Film Festival for her role as Terri.
She has also appeared in several short films such as The Tunnel and Scribblings. She played a receptionist as well in Christopher Smith’s Detour independent film, which is about a law student who has to choose between killing her adulterous father and grieving over his dying mother.
In mid-December of 2015, she made her debut on television in the SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy as Wandile Radebe (Wandi), Zola’s child, in a gender mystery plot. This was her first leading television role.
