Sbahle Mpisane , who was behind the wheel in Midrand, Johannesburg at the time, has been granted bail following information provided by Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, the spokesperson for the Gauteng South African Police Service (SAPS). Her upcoming court dates are yet to be confirmed, and she is anticipated to make a subsequent appearance.
This incident follows a prior car accident in August 2018 in Durban, where Sbahle endured a nearly fatal crash, resulting in a permanent injury to her right leg.
During a 2022 interview with YouTuber Owamie Netshivhazwaulu, she revealed that the crash occurred after a night out with friends, involving some alcohol. Sbahle recounted encountering an unruly drunk driver on the road, prompting her to accelerate to avoid the situation. Unfortunately, her BMW 4 series veered onto the sidewalk, resulting in a concussion and her losing consciousness.
Her leg got trapped on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to collide with a traffic light and eventually strike a tree. Since then, Sbahle has been wearing a moon boot, as her ankle bone underwent surgical removal.
