Scandal Synopsis
In the fake newsroom of The Voice, there are beautiful women, powerful men, big egos, ruthless ambition, secret plans, open fights, and lies. And don’t even get me started on who hates who.
Scandal is about the people who work for this Johannesburg-based newspaper, from their (no longer) private lives and personal problems to the stress of meeting deadlines and the chaos of breaking news. No one’s reputation is left untouched by a scandal.
Stan Nyathi (Luthuli Dlamini) and Vusi Zwane are the two main people in the story (Siyabonga Twala). Even though they have different business styles, they stay friends outside of the newsroom.
Stan is in charge of writing the newspaper, and Vusi owns it. Stan is married to Thato, played by Rami Chuene, whom he loves without question. Eddie Khumalo, a veteran of the newsroom, is also in the cast (Sandy Mokwena).
In the newsroom, there is Lulama (Sarah Ngubeni), an up-and-coming journalist who doesn’t hold back, and Vanashree Devan, a political reporter (Leeanda Reddy). Vanashree is often seen as pushy, but she thinks of herself as driven.
Samantha from a small town, played by Candice Derman, is the style/fashion editor. June Simms, played by Zo Fairbrother, is the self-serving Managing Editor.
Andrew McBain, who works in advertising and is played by Ashley Dowds, is the guy you will love to hate. Jaco Geldenhuys (Dewald Reynecke) is the playboy at The Voice. He is a sports journalist.
Breyton Isaacs (Jacques Blignaut), the mystery man in this newsroom, is a photographer who loves what he does. Tamia Bardill is the beautiful and sassy receptionist at The Voice. She is played by Renate Stuurman.
Fana Baloyi, played by Welile Nzunza, is a man who wants to get away from his past. He wants to improve himself, and even though his job as a messenger at The Voice can sometimes make him feel small, he keeps going.
Scandal! aired its 500th episode on May 31, 2008, its 1,000th episode on October 22, 2009, and its 1,500th episode on March 15, 2012.
